Massachusetts Maritime Academy Cooperative Education Program

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) Cooperative Education Program provides employers with the services of highly motivated and intelligent young men and women pursuing careers in the following fields:

  • Facilities and Environmental Engineering
  • Environmental Health and Safety
  • International Maritime Business
  • Emergency Management (NEW)

Our programs are designed to integrate classroom study with planned and supervised work experiences producing cadets with a well balanced background of theory, operational experience, and managerial ability.

Cadets receive 6 credits to participate in the Co-op program and are required to complete a minimum 240 hours in a six to eight week period.  Although the majority of our cadets participate in the six to eight week program, we have recently started an extended co-op program for up to six months.

As a co-op employer, you would benefit by employing co-op students in several ways, including improving staff efficiency (by relieving higher paid employees of routine tasks), and lowering recruiting costs by prescreening potential full time employees. There are also many intangible benefits derived by participating in our program.

Our co-op program runs during the winter and summer sessions.  We are currently recruiting for positions during the following time frame:

  • Jan-March 2008
  • June- September 2008
  • Extended programs starting January 2008
