SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE |

This
topic will be presented by Ken Mastrullo,
Senior Electrical Specialist of the |
|
|
NFPA,
and will be an overview of electrical safety
in the workplace, electrical |
|
|
accidents,
economic impact, and the need to develop a
safety and training |
|
|
program
for all potentially affected employees.
The subject matter to be cover- |
|
|
ed
includes the statistics of electrical
accidents, the economic affects on a |
|
|
company,
the history of OSHA's participation in
electrical safety, safety related |
|
|
work
practices, approach and flash hazard
boundaries, personal protective |
|
|
equipment,
and contractors working on your site. |
|
|
|
|
|
The
speaker is employed by the National Fire
Protection Association as a |
|
|
Senior
Electrical Specialist.
He is a member of the engineering staff
for the the |
|
|
National
Electrical Code, as well as an instructor of
NFPA's code seminars. |
|
|
He
is also the staff liason to the Technical
Committees on Recommended |
|
|
Practice
for Electrical Equipment Maintenance and
Electrical Safety Require- |
|
|
ments
for Employees Workplaces.
Prior to joining NFPA in 1999, he was |
|
|
employed
for 28 years in the electrical industry in two
primary fields.
He |
|
|
worked
17 years in the electrical construction
industry as an Electrical Esti- |
|
|
mator,
Project Manager, and Project Engineer in the
Boston area.
He also |
|
|
worked
12 years as a Senior Facilities Engineer.
Ken is a Master Electrician |
|
|
in
Massachusetts, a Certified Plant Engineer, and
an OSHA Certified Outreach |
|
|
Trainer,
and is a member of the AFE, IBEW, IEEE and
IAEI. |
